Hey first post! Thanks for having me here, Thanks for helping me out.

Im not to adept at figuring out what hardware im computer is running, have checked a few things on my computer and on the net. Still cant find what i really want to know which is what kind of slots i have on my motherboard, and what is compatable with it.

The only things i have in mind right now would be one more gig of ram, and a better video card. Im really hoping this is possible but i know gateway, and i didnt spend a whole lot so i wouldnt be suprised to find out i cant do a whole lot.

If you can help me out thanks a lot!

    Welcome to nbr,

You can upgrade your cpu, memory and harddrive. You unfortunately cannot upgrade your integrated ATI graphics card.

If the specs of your system are identical to the one in the link, than you can upgrade to 4gb of memory. Your system supports Pc5300 memory and can support 2 x 2Gb, or a 2gb memory car per slot.
The harddrive can be upgraded to any 9.5mm thick SATA mobile laptop harddrive. Every Sata drive other than the 5k500 series from Hitachi will fit and work.
Your cpu is an AMD turion processor which uses socket S1. In essence you can upgrade all of the way up to the TL-68 processor, which is a 2.4Ghz dual core processor. However if you have the Tl-60, a 400Mhz increase in clock speed will not be very noticeable.

Your best bet is upping the ram to 3-4Gb, that will be a cheap upgrade and will show more of a performance increase than anything else.

Hey thanks alot tron. Thats to bad about the video card but im over it already. I will defiantly get another gig of ram and and feel alright.

I have looked into going xp with it. Everyone says that the only missing driver is the realtek wireless internet. Any suggestions on getting around this?

    realtek wireless internet?
Realtek makes sound chips, and motherboard clock generators. To my recollection they do not make wireless cards. But looking at the spec sheet it has a integrated realtek wireless card. Go to realtek's website and try to hunt down a driver for it, if you can find it that would be awesome. If not, use google to try and find a driver for it.

About the graphics cards. Almost 100% of laptops cannot be upgraded in the graphics department. Usually desktop replacements/high end gaming computers one can upgrade their graphics card in, but thats about it.

Running xp will be fine on your machine. But if you decide to switch to XP, please realize that a 32bit copy of xp will only recognize about 2.8-3.4Gb of memory. Having 4gb of memory with XP will give no advantage over 3gb of memory.
