It is probably be easier (and faster) if you just open the case and check the part number.

Scorpio Blue and you can NOT remove it and use it in your laptop. There is no SATA connector on the hard drive. They use a different USB-only PCB board on these drives.

Get the 500GB scorpio blue here. IMHO the best 500GB laptop drive out there.

Really now? Why dont you give someone the full story. Both WD and Simpletech used normal WD Scorpio Blue drives in their enclosure with a SATA to USB board attached. Only the newest WD models have usb only. The Up to the 500GB have been avaliable, but its hard to determine without taking it apart.

To avoid the risk of getting the new model, just buy the Simple Tech drive instead.

Some shots of the previous model, should still be able to find them but no way of seeing:

As i said, best to avoid the wd, sucks that theyve flooded the market with this crap. No reason for it its more expensive todo it like that. I had seen it before but never in person, I was unfortunately wrong and still mad at igrim because he claims i gave misinformation to someone when i clearly agreed with what igrim thinks was right. The change seems to have gone main stream the beginning of this year, low volume stores are your best bet if you want to risk it. They used to be cheaper to buy the external and take it apart, not so much anymore though.
