You would need to open up your laptop and put that where your card is now. I would be wary of buying a used graphics card off ebay, especially since alot of people have had issues with Nvidia's 9800s dieing on them.

also depends on if it is a standard MXM format ( 2.1 or 3 ) and which one, as well as if it is propriatory like some of the ASUS units which are flipped.

can you open it up and take pictures or give us your full model number of your laptop?

from the link you gave if that is a matching model number it looks like it may work but it has BOTH gpu's on a single card, so I am guessing very propriatory.

Since I have not read about my laptop in about a year, and after trying to find some quick information I believe I would need:

    1. 230W power adapter. I believe I have a 180W
    2. NVIDIA MOBO (SLI Capable I believe). I have an intel because I only have 1 9700M GTS.

Maybe it would be worth to buy it and wait for a used mobo, or just wait for a used 9800M GTX, which is what my laptop can support without having to switch out the mobo.

the 9800M cards do not fail.. the 8800M ones do.. also , i doubt u can use SLI as ur model came with single cards... if u want to upgrade , a single 9800M GTX is the best u can get.

Yup your right :) There seems to be a myth going around about failing 9xxx series cards.

All cards will can fail but the 8400m and 8600m are almost guaranteed to fail. My 8800m will be 2 years old next month and it has been OC'ed almost every time I have my laptop on. My friend with a p-173XL FX has a 8800m that is still fine after 2 years also. I don't thinnk the 8800m was a part of nvidia's problem.

i have a 800m gtx in an alienware m15x and my card regularly gets to low 90's and its fine and that is over 2 years old now so it depends on the card (the indiviual card) as said above all cards fail but it was the lowever end 8000 that failed more
