    Simple question....

I have a DVD Burner on my desktop which is sufficient enough for me. I don't need one everwhere I go. It seems most people just HAVE to get a DVD burner with their laptop though and to me it's just not worth the extra $50. I guess I just dont understand why people want DVD Burners on their laptops so bad unless they don't have one at all currently.

I plan to burn anime/manga and prog. I get off of my tv tuner, so it'll def. be gettin some use. I'll also be usin it for some dled games and movies, so yeah; it a necessity. It's just a more cost-effective and convenient way of keeping big files.

I don't, basically I very occasionally burn the odd CD/DVD, then again I have two 120GB hard drives that I just backup to.

I have a DVD burner on my newest laptop. It is just convenient to burn a CD or DVD whenever and whereever you need to do so. $50 for a $2000 laptop doesn't make a difference. $200 difference on a $1200 laptop would make a difference.

I have a DVD burner for "I wish I had a DVD burner now" moments. I know it costs some money but usually paying ~$50 or so, I feel it is worth it. Other than that I do have some backups onto DVD's. I regularly burn CD's but rarely ever use it to burn DVD's.

I use my burners for making CD's to listen to in the car etc. Also good for burning video (anime!) and for backing up data even. I mean its only 50 bucks so having at least one somewhere is a good thing.

also, you have to realize that for many, their notebook is their main computer. not everyone has the luxury of owning both a laptop and a desktop.

I have an external. I just hate built in drives, they are of lower quality and go bad much faster. An external costs slightly more (drive + enclosure) but is much better with regards to features and quality.

I only use my internal DVD/CDRW to install an OS. Otherwise I use the external one.

Most of my DVD burning is for TV recorded stuff and backing up DVD movies. But I don't burn that much DVDs, once a week or 2.

I mainly use mine for backups as they hold a lot more data. I have an external one as I like to keep the battery in the since I don't burn a whole lot.

I don't have one for my laptop. I'll get an external if I find I could use one, but so far I have only needed the one in my desktop.

well I would use it to store pics, music, vids and stuff I dont normally use but would still like to keep backed up, or just for general backing up stuff. Its a pain to have to make multiple cd-r's with it, so instead 1 dvd would do the job. :)

I don't burn discs that often; every month I do a backup of all my documents to disc. I normally put all my data on an external hard drive for backup purposes, but a copy on disc is nice to have.
