Not sure if it's a defect or not. New drive about 2 weeks old. Just beeps once in a while when I click on a tab or page. My XT ran perfect for a year or so..not sure on this one.

    Drive beeping sounds very strange.
Are you 100% sure that is it actually the drive?

Must be as it has only done it while that drive was used for storage. Any other drive I used didn't do it. I have 3 drives for storage.

Means nothing. Seagates sometimes do that.

I have the same issue, I even RMA'd the under 1 month old drive because of the issue only to get a stupid RMA Repaired drive which has since started to do the same thing as well.

Seagate is saying i am the only user after Updating the firmware to SM16 that suffers this issue which i am not. Ringing them tomorrow to see what they are going to do. If they do not do much i will just get the to refund me the cost of the drive and postage and get another drive thats now seagate.

Seems that the 3rd gen has gone down the same ways as the 1st gen. On top of that i have even told seagate support what has caused this issue yet its like hitting a brick wall to be honest! so i have linked them to this thread.

As according to seagate support i am the only one with the issue.

I've had exact the same problem. As far as I read somewhere, it occurs only in SATA2 mode, SATA3 works fine. I didn't use the drive internally much, but it beeped annoyingly from time to time. Also, Command Timeout SMART attribute was growing until i removed Intel RST driver, beeping didn't stop though. As soon as I got my first M9T, I put this SSHD inside usb3.0 enclosure and it beeped never since.
