Hello, sorry to start another thread probably on what was previously discussed but I tried the sticky's and "search" function doesn't work properly.
I'm receivin Gateway 6860 on monday and I'm sartin tothink what now ? I got the laptop so now time to upgrade it. I thought about gettin Raid but I have no clue about it. I don't care if I get a value of 2 drives together or just 1, whatever will b faster. And what drives do I get ? Shuld I get 2 5400s or 2 7200s ? What is tha people use for Raid ? A value of 250GB or 320GB is fine for me.
Anyone wanna set me on the right track ?

sure...your 6860 comes with a wd3200BEVT 5400 rpm drive already, so your best bet is to get another one of those here and then follow your owners manual when setting up the raid. its easy as cake to do, just make sure you used the gateway recovery center to make the driver and application restore disk, and be prepared to do a full re-install of vista.

not really. at least none that ive noticed anyways. worth the performance otherwise? IMO yes. applications, startup....etc load much faster. my bootup time from restart to desktop loaded including typing my password is about 45 seconds. just an overall snappier feel to everything in general.
