    Hi there,

I've been wondering this for a while now. I'm unsure exactly what my CPU is.

Both CPU-Z and HWmonitor say 4900MQ but the specifications say 4810MQ.
    Picture below, please help! :D

I think that's an issue with CPU-Z or the CPU identifying itself ...I have a review unit right now with an i7-4810MQ and CPU-Z 1.70 also tells me it's an i7-4900MQ (my CPU-Z looks exactly like yours does).

Check your System Properties in Windows - press the [Windows] key + [Pause] keys simultaneously. Or right-click Computer (Windows 7) or This PC (Windows 8) via Windows Explorer > Properties.

You can also use the Device Manager - press the [Windows] key + [R] simultaneously to bring up the Run menu, type devmgmt.msc in the box and click OK, then expand Processors.

Either of the two methods above will tell you the real CPU.

Definitely an 4810MQ, tell-tale sign is the 6MB L3 cache.

The mis-identification is most likely because 4810MQ shares the exact same clockspeeds at stock with 4900MQ.

It's not only CPU-Z that gives this information. Other software on her computer tell her that it's a 4900MQ. I was thinking it was a 4900MQ bin that they just locked 2MB L3 cache away and re-named it to 4810MQ.

I think all this beatin around the bush does nothing. Why do you tell us what make model is the laptop your showing in CPU id program that would also help more. Also use your Serial/Service Tag and check with the manufacture and that should also tell you more information as well. Just asking to identify your chip-set and giving us nothing is basically nothing in the end.....

And your post does even less than this very thread that you're railing against.

Interesting idea on the 4810MQ simply being a locked 4900MQ, that actually sounds very plausible. "Guys let's just take those bottom of the barrel 4900MQ and market them as 4810MQ with a free +100MHz upgrade!"

    Genius I tell ya.

    MSI GT70 Dominator, 4810MQ, 8GB 1600MHz RAM, 870M 3GB. Pre-built model, not XoticPC-style model. Do not know her serial/service tag.

I know right? Since Gigabyte forced a 870M to return that it was a GTX 760 HERE, I hold absolutely no doubt that this kind of stuff goes on all the time lately in other places. Since a 4900MQ IS a 4810MQ with 2MB more L3 cache, I figured it's best to recycle the old and probably BIOS-lock the cache and be done with it.

Well hot damn my Gigabyte 970 cards just arrived today. Oh well at least they have the best performance and I had to get them because of a 10% off deal. I'm off the moral hook right RIGHT?

It's already stated it's a 4810MQ under "specification". This will most likely be the CPUID name string read from the CPU. As for the "name" being 4900MQ, probably CPUz lookup table has not yet been updated with the refresh.
