    What format is rectangle stick SSD???

    This is what is inside my asus ux21e laptop

    Rectangle shape ssd memory stick

    I was told it is msata so I bought a 256gb crucial m4 ssd which looks like this Square shape.

    Can someone tell me what's wrong here, and what format the rectangle shape is so I can get a drive that fits

    The mSATA you bought is the standard mSATA.
    What is in your laptop is is a proprietary SSD made by ADATA for Asus I think. You would have to get that from Asus.

    Can I purchase the SSD sticks from Adata/Sandisk direct or go to Asus or what

    You may or may not be able to upgrade, if Asus doesn't make it available and no third party makes or sell them, you're pretty much SOL unless you can find some on eBay that were pulled from used notebooks of the same model.
