Does anybody have any information why Crucial does not seem to sell Ballistix Sport SO-DIMM memory modules (or other fast modules) anymore? They are still listed here:
Crucial.com - Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM Series
But you can't find them from their web shop and I know for a fact that at least some of them are not on sale by Crucial anymore, and based on their web shop, likely none of them. It also seems they have stopped selling any 1866MHz laptop memory. Fastest SO-DIMM modules that are available in their webshop are 1600MHz CL=11.
I'm suspecting quality and compatibility problems with the faster ones. It hasn't been even a year since those were introduced and now they seem to be pulled from the market completely.

I think the fastest SO-DIMM RAM right now is G.Skill Ripjaws 2133 CL11.

As for Crucial Ballistix, I have no idea. -
Well I had an order for ballistix sport, just got email from Amazon they finally got stock, dunno if its new stock or not, might be changing suppliers or something. They were mega cheap when I put the order in so impressed they're honouring it, 33£ each for 8gb bones. So yeah they might be back I guess?

The reason I'm asking about them is that I bought 4*8gb Ballistix Sports which were "guaranteed compatible" with my system. None of the modules worked and I sent them back to Crucial, who tested them and verified that they were in fact all broken. They sent me now another batch of the same (after all sorts of weird delays that took months), and guess what, none of them work either! It sort of indicates they might have some manufacturing issues if 8 out of 8 modules are broken, does it?
Let's hope you have better luck with them. May I ask which model did you buy and to which machine? -
Aww Crucial BLS8G3N169ES4CEU Memory Module 8 GB / 1600 MHz / CL9 / DDR3-RAM by Crucial http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DSGLM64/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_x0CDtb03CGHY4
Ordered them way back in March, a pair of them. I actually got 16gb geil kit in my laptop, got those way back for 34£ for both! I'll make sure to run a full check and stress test on the sports, will probably end up putting them on eBay though, unless they outperform my geil by a good margin, as with an w230ss there's substantial heat as is, and geil run cool as icecream
34£ for 16gb ddr3 high speed sodimm 2x8 kit! If I only knew would've 10 kits and sold them now for a holiday in the Caribbean!

Yeah, I know. I bought my Crucial Ballistix for about $50 an 8GB stick. Now they're over $80 each: Amazon.com: Crucial Ballistix Sport SODIMM 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3 1866 MT/s (PC3-14900) CL10 @1.35V 204-Pin Memory: Computers & Accessories
Heck I even bought several 8GB kits for like $35 each back in late 2012. -
Yeah, the RAM prices now are absurd!

There's also the Kingston HyperX Predator 2x8GB (16GB) for $168: Amazon.com: Kingston Technology HyperX Predator 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR3 PC3-17000 CL11 DIMM Motherboard Memory XMP T2 Series KHX21C11T2K2/16X: Computers & Accessories

So got my crucial ballistix, they sent me 4gb sticks however, though refunded half my money so a fairly good deal overall.
Run them through mem test no problem. Going on eBay as I got same spec 16gb in my lappy Anyways, can go towards some next purchase. Still ended up a bargain
Also yes, they don't seem to be having much stock of them, and from what I could make out, no new stock. So dunno, I'm not particularly picky about the high performance ram in my laptop, as it can't really use it fully, won't feel much difference between normal and the ballistix, sad to see them go, if they are going.
