I used to have my battery life indicator in the bottom right hand of the screen to see how much battery life there was left (I know...I realize I have another post asking why there are so many things there but this one is extremely helpful). I clicked on the shortcut to power options and select show icon on taskbar but it is not there. What gives?

Maybe Windows XP hid your icon. Right-click on the task bar and click Properties. You should see options about icons.

And in windows XP, there is a "Power Options" item under the control panel. in "Power Options", at the "Advanced" tab, you'll have the option to always show the indicator.

In addition, this is where you can set all your other power gizmos and etc.
