This is for a Toshiba A200 1AX laptop which has a toshiba 4200 RPM hard drive. Will the above HDD support mine ? What will give me the best performance and best battery life ? I dont mind the amount of space. 250 gb is more than enough.

for the small increase in price the 7200rpm drive will be much faster than the 5400rpm version.

No, the harddrives today are so well optimized so you can't tell a difference if you don't have a 6hour batterylife, then you can maybe see a 10minute difference between 5400rpm och 7200prm, thus 7200rpm hdd will make things go faster and get it done quicker.

I saw on seagate site(IIRC) that difference between 5400rpm and 7200rpm on the absolute newest 2.5" sata is 0.05w, so it's really nothing to boggle about imho.

the power consumption differences will not even amount to more than say 2-3 minutes so yeah do not worry about it.
All of the new drives are very power efficient.
The harddrive only represents a very small part of the total power used by the laptop.
Undervolting your cpu will yield much higher battery life, since the cpu represents a much greater percent of the laptop power consumption
