    I was wondering what desktop hard drive there was in Western Digital's My Book Home edition?

    Plug in your drive and go into Device Manager, or open up HD Tune and you can get the name of the drive model.

    LOL i know all that but it always comes out as WD My book... i wanna know what drive is inside the mybook.

    It's usually a 7200 RPM "Green" edition drive, but there's a lot of Mybook Home Editions, so you need to look up the model number.

    I didn't know they could do that. My WD Elements drive always comes up as: WDC WD5000BEVT.

    They are also commonly SATA drives inside those My Books if that's what you mean.

    My 1TB My Book (Office, which just means it's silver and has a fancy light) has the 1TB Green in it. Not as fast as the Black in comparable setups, but not bad.
