I am trying to customize my laptop (Dell Latitude D630), according to school requirements. One requirement is:

Operating System Recovery: Recovery Disks or pre-installed image recovery

Is it talking about "Data Protection?" On one part of the dell site, it lets you pick from these

Is that what I am looking for? I've spent days trying to figure this out, but I need to order or it will not come in time. I called my school's tech help, but they are useless  Thanks so much for anyone who answers.

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum)

Recovery disks is when you get physical disks (mostly DVD) to recover your system.

A pre-installed image is when the recovery image is installed on the harddrive, in a hidden partition.

In case anything goes wrong with your installation you can recover your system with either option. Often manufacturers choose for only a pre installed recovery image to save costs.

It is not about the "data protection".
