    Hello Everyone

I want to upgrade the Ram Memory of my laptop. It's a Dell Vostro 1500 with 1 GB. The question is should I buy 2 GB(x1 stick) or 2GB(x2 sticks)? which one is better?

    Thanks

What configuration do you have now? I assume you have 2 512mb sticks. If that's the case, then the best upgrade option would be to replace one of them with a 2GB stick. That leaves you open to upgrade to 3GB or 4GB in the future.

Yes, I forgot to think about that Odin if you have 1 DIMM or 2 DIMM it changes.

If you have AMD you might want to get 2 matching sticks as they don't support different size sticks for Dual channel and on my Turion that is a 30% difference.

Edit: Dah! I missed that!

He has an Intel 965 chipset, so different size sticks won't make too much of a difference.

    Thanks Guys!!
    Right now I'm about to buy a 2GB Memory for newegg.The question is if my laptop will be able to run with the GeIL 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Notebook Memory or should I buy something like this Patriot 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)?

    Thanks!

Your notebook will run with DDR2600, but it will just downclock it to 667MHz (your chipset doesn't support 800MHz RAM), so it's more cost effective to get the 667MHz RAM.
