I've been looking into buying a laptop recently - ASUS G55 to be precise, and in the customization menu it has the option to include a PCIe Flash SSD Drive - either a 64, 128 or a 256 MSATA crucial M4 SDD (with speeds 415, 500 and 500 MB/s). And that goes along with a primary drive.

Could you please explain me what the PCIe Flash SSD actually is, what it does and whether there is any point in including it in the laptop configuration (i.e. if it leads to any significant increase in performance)? I've googled it quite a bit, but couldn't find a good explanation.

    Thanks!
