    Hi,

I have noticed for the last year how my internet occasionally disconnects or has limited connection or is just slow loading web pages,

i assumed it was my broadband but every time i done a speed test or called the ISP they said the broadband was running fine,
So i recently bought a new ADSL router as i thought this was the cause of my poor connection and lack of speed/consistency

but as the new modem didnt make any difference im starting to think it must be my laptop as other ones in the house dont have this problem,

so as i have a new ish samsung 830 SSD, new ddr3 8gb crucail RAM, i think i should now change my wireless adapter in my laptop, are they just called wireless adapters?
when i search for these i get lots of USB ones showing, but i need one that will replace the wireless adapter inside my laptop.
according to the Asus website my A52F has a 'Integrated 802.11 b/g/n' for networking ,

as i am clueless about wireless adapters for laptops, could someone advise me what i should be looking for? any specific brands or models or speeds/specs?

a friend said netgear are good but not sure how true that is?

    thanks

I'm going to be honest: if you don't know what you're looking for, then I don't suggest purchasing a wireless NIC for your laptop, as I'm guessing you don't know how to install it. A USB adapter would be more simplistic. :)

But if you really don't want to lose a USB port, then you can either contact your reseller/retailer for a replacement, or shop around for one. Common terminology:

    Mini PCIe NIC/WiFi card
    Internal laptop wifi card

Or find out what card you have in your system - the exact make and model - and then search for that. They are still simple to install, but accidents are more likely to occur as opposed to a USB WiFi adapter. Plus most the USB ones are cheap and include Bluetooth!

    thanks prostar,
i spoke to asus helpline and they said i need this model asus adapter:
    04G033098003

i know using a usb would be easier but you dont seem to get fast speeds with them like you would a wireless card you insert in a laptop
this netgear usb only gives 150mbps and my broadband is 900mbps so i guess i wont get the full speeds so would be better off getting a new wifi card
    WNA1100

ill be okay instaling the card aslong as i can find a tutorial

so besides the asus card i posted the model number for, are there any other brands or models of this spec card you would recommend?
as i dont want to buy another asus one knowing how poor connection this one that came in the laptop is

I have an Intel Advanced N 6235 and it is plenty fast. It also gets better range than my last wireless card, although that also has to do with the type or quality of router you use. It also offers bluetooth which can free up your USB ports. The best quality is its reliability, it has never given me a single connectivity issue so far. I certainly can't say the same about any of my previous wireless cards.

You can pick it up on Amazon for about $25, and it should be a fairly easy install depending on its location and accessibility in your notebook. Browsing the reviews there are a handful of owners who installed it their Asus notebooks in less than 10 mins.

    thanks for the suggestion

i have seen an intel wifi and bluetooth card on ebay brand new from hong kong for just £3.99:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271035623977?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

could it be a fake intel wifi card?

hopefully this will work in my ASUS A52F and speed the broadband up and improve the connection quality
but i also read the intel 6230 but have no idea if it is compatible with my ASUS A52F
according to the asus site my A52F has an intergrated wifi card, does this mean i will be unable to install/plug-in a different wifi card?

Which is advisable for my laptop, a single band (intel 1030) wifi card or a dual band (intel 8230) one? what difference would it make between the two?

by the way ive recently received this brand new router:
HUAWEI HG533 Broadband Wireless N ADSL2+ Router 4 Port inc fibre port

Is this a single or dual band modem?
based on this modem, would you advise a different wifi and bluetooth card for my ASUS A52F besides the Intel 1030?

    Thank you

does anyone know if the intel 6230 is compatible with my ASUS A52F laptop and HUAWEI HG533 router?

if its not, would i be best just getting the Intel 1030 wifi/bluetooth card?
