    Hey Guys!!
    NOW am 100% !!! ASSURE DDR2 1066 Mhz dosn't exist !
    i just checked that link : http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicati...SHOPSHOP&cm_mmc_o=2mHCjCmtB5fBbfCjCVqHCjCdwwp
there are questions and answers about product and
    two watchers asked questions :
I am intersted in the KTA-MB1066K2/4G Kingston memory. It's a DDR3 RAm mamory, but in your site it says DDR2. Is it a mistake or its not the memory I want??

Since this is for the new aluminum MacBooks, which ship with DDR3 RAM, wouldn't this be DDR3 at this speed? The Kingston site doesn't mention DDR2 at all for this product number.
And I found them by model number on another web
    Those kingston Model: KTA-MB1066K2/4GR are DDR3 !

    Well there you go.
I thought it was weird that anyone would produce it when no chipset supports it or ever will support it, but who knows. Dumber stuff happens.

He said all other specs are the same. So they use the same (probably PM45) platform.

He said that, but you know they're not identical otherwise.

4gb ddr3 kits are pretty cheap on ebay at the moment.

The Wilder guy don't know what he's talking about. He had the correct model number, but he thought it was DDR3, but in fact they're DDR2.
The model number suggests that it's ddr2, hense "D2" in the product name.
You can even find the ddr2 1066mhz sodimm on kingston's site.

Which part number are you talking about?
The part numbers on Kingston's site I linked are all DDR2 1066mhz.

Edit: Didn't look at the model number carefully from tigerdirect's link.
But Kingston has 1066mhz DDR2 SODIMM on their site.

Even manufacturers can list things wrong sometimes... don't take it as holy word.

I don't understand how it gets bottlenecked with the FSB, if i get a laptop with a GS45, GM45 or PM45; they all support (DDR2 667/800, DDR3 667/800/1066). So if i were get a CPU: P8700 (2.53GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) Then it would still be an issue to get DDR3 at 1066MHz? Seems like they run at the same speed and it would work fine. I'm not even looking at $10 price difference in the memory from DDR2 to DDR3, and DDR3 runs at lower voltage, so wouldn't that be helpful for me as well? I Assume DDR3 doesn't use more Watts than DDR2. So my choice is clear on DDR3 1066MHz or is it silly and DDR2 will perform better?
Basically I'd be getting DDR3 1066MHz with CL 7 or DDR2 800MHz CL 5. Is the performance basically the same so if I want to spoil myself with longer battery life I'd go with DDR3 but it wouldn't improve that drastically. I'm not planning on overclocking. Thanks for any help!

Memory speed is pretty much never the bottleneck for any system. It doesn't matter if it's even DDR2-533, since a divider links it to the FSB and you suffer zero loss in performance over DDR3-1066. Since memory has come down in price, DDR3 is a viable alternative but for $10, there is still no benefit so why even spend that much. $10 more can get you a slightly better hard drive or another component. Memory consumes a total of 1W, the power savings is basically zero, so you might get 1 minute more of power but for the most part that aspect is from marketing.

There's 0 loss of performance compared to DDR2-533 by running DDR3 1066mhz ram at 533mhz. However, if you run DDR3 1066mhz at full speed, it's many times faster than DDR2-533. With a memory divider, it'll decrease its performance because the clocks are not syncronized.
