What is the best around 60GB SSD under $300? I want one that you don't have to tweak and it works perfectly straight out of the box. Any suggestions?

tough question.
go for Samsung 64GB SLC .. one got sold for 305 USD a week ago in ebay. I saw it but left out for couple of hours, then got back home to place the bid and saw it sold out already
or if you find an MTron 64GB for that price .. go for it. They usually sell for 400 though. -

You can occasionally find some of the second-gen Samsung 64GB models on eBay for around $300. There's two going for $290 BIN right now if you search for "Samsung 64GB". I'd still stay away from the cheaper MLC drives; they're monsters in sequential read and write, but Samsung, Mtron, Intel, etc still beat them in smaller random writes.
EDIT: And yes, Mtron is also a good bet if you can find it at your price point. -

Someone was selling the 1.8 inch samsung on nbr marketplace for 300. But you'd have to buy the adapter to have it fit in 2.5" bay

The OCZ Vertex should be under $300 when it is available (soon).

Intel MLC based Drives perform well.

ADATA recently released a budget SSD series. Their 64GB is selling for around $150~$200. Here is a benchmark of the 32GB version, I’m no expert in SSDs, but I think those benchmark scores look pretty good for a $150 SSD. Maybe someone with more experience on SSD drives can elaborate more.
