I was looking for some help on finding a good processor. the processor will not be used for any gaming. The use will just be for internet access and downloading some music. I found a few notebooks I like but I am not sure about the processors. Other than the processor everything else is the same on the 3 besides price. I was wondering about these three different ones: (all three are dual core)

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-55 / 1.8 GHz

    Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 / 1.66 GHz

    AMD Turion 64 X2

I know there is always new and better. What is a good dependable processor?

Considering you were so kind as to post the three. And I clearly need posts to catch up to Lithus, I will give a shot. The most powerful is the TL-64, then T5450 and then TK-55. With that said all would work fine. The Intel will provide the best battery conservation and least heat output. What would I pick? If really all the same? Then TL-64 or T5450. But if anything was better on anyone of the systems I would not hesitate to pick the better system.

I would vote for the T5450, if I remeber correctly, this processor undervolts really well. You can put all of the multipliers to the lowest voltage, thus providing a very promising undervolt.
I have the T5300, and I can set all multipliers from 6-13 at 0.950V. I believe you can do the same with the T5450.
That means that the processor will run much cooler, and get you better battery life.
In my experience, I was able to drop the voltage on the 13x Multiplier from 1.175Volts to 0.950V, which is a pretty substantial undervolt.
This was able to cut my thermal load by about 15C. My battery life also increaed by about 20 minutes, so that was nice too.

You can undervolt both the amd processors and the intel processors, but to different degrees. On this one, I would go for the intel solution, since its a pretty sound configuration.
