    Hi,

    I own a M860ETU, I read the very usefull H-Emmanuel thread, and ordered a GTX 280M.
I know that I have to remove the backplate of my current GPU and stick it on the GTX 280M.

I was just wondering how to cool it properly.
Would the Artic Cooling MX-2 paste, the best thing to cool the GTX 280M GPU ?

    I also saw a picture from H-Emmanuel thread concerning M860ETU + GTX 280M http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/2766/copyofsnc00592.jpg
And wondered about these Thermal tapes,

What would be the best thermal tapes/pads (or anything else) to cool the GTX 280M Memory ?

    Thanks!

You can also undervolt the CPU or undervolt the GPU via vBIOS flashing.

Undervolting will reduce the overclocking potential of both parts though.

Alternatively, invest in a good laptop cooler

The GTX 280M's cannot operate below 1v at factory clocks. The M860TU heatsink is adaquate enough to deal with the GTX 280M at stock.

Off topic: MikjoA, you are one hell of an artist, sir. I love your work.

    Thanks for the help :)

I'd like to overvolt it ^^ using Oile's Overvolted bios, to enable higher clock.

I know the M860TU heatsink is adequate, but I was wondering about the best way to cool it when I'll install it. I'll need Thermal Tapes / Thermal pads and I never used them before.
Which one would be the best ?

I also wonder if Arctic Cooling MX-2 was the best thing to use to cool the GTX 280M GPU.

If you know a good Thermal pad / tape (or anything else) to cool the GTX 280M memory could you please give the reference product (or a link)

    Thank you !

( sorry my thread isn't very clear I was quite tired when I made it I am going to edit it )

Thank you :D better drawings are to come soon, especially because I improved a lot my technique for my girlfriend's portrait that I'm currently working on ^ ^

The thermal pads that come with the GTX 280M are good enough. You should only replace them if they are starting to show signs of damage such as ripping or tearing.

MX-2 is a good choice for the GPU.

AC MX-3 is also good, but from what other people have told me (I've never used MX-2) the improvement over MX-2 is negligible.

I use MX-2 on mine; which is overvolted to 1.05V.

I have made the have also modified the 280M for better cooling.

oh thank you ! how much is the temperature drop with this compare to the initial GPU?

To MikjoA: Considering the amount of talent on DeviantArt you're putting in some fine work there. Bravo.

5482741: Just to quiz you on this, do you have problems running games when your notebook is powered by the battery?
