I bought a 8Gb kingston data traveller from a local retailer here [read: KSA] for 56 riyals which is ~ 15 US$$

I'm happy with it, I use it to move a lot of data between my and family/friends (pics and stuff), and I find the write speeds are decent

    A couple of years ago I also bought a 4GB for 160 Riyals (43$) and I thought I got a good deal
Now I recently got one for less than 10 bucks :D

What are the write speeds on that drive? I've read that they're not so great.

Just about any halfway decent USB drive gets close to 30MB/s read. It's the writes that really fall off the wagon on most.

My Patriot Xporter 8GB seems to be pretty fast compared to my Sandisk Cruzer and Kingston Datatraveler. In real life transfers, it is always faster than the other two in both read and write speeds.
