    What is the fastest processor I could put in an inspiron 6000

    Is it socket m? socket something else? could i get a socket m core 2 duo and put it in an inspiron 6000? thanks.

    The i6000 used Pentium M processors, so you cannot use Core or Core 2 as Intel changed the pin layout on those processors. The fastest you can get would be the Pentium M 770, and that upgrade would (1) be expensive and (2) wouldn't even get you dual core.

    right. i thought the pins were the same the first wave of core processors...

    They changed three pins in one corner so that the two processors could not get mixed up.
