    Hi,

I recently felt my Laptop's fans have got active all the time.

    After checking my cpu temperature (Q9550), it's around 55 for core1, 50 for core2, 55 for core 3 and 4

So i redo the thermal paste with the new MX-2.

After the redo, the first boot seems better, the fans act less active (didn't check the actual temp)

Allowing the thermal paste to burn in more,
I wait another 2 days and checked the temperate,
seems not much differnce, it's now :
    Cores:
    1:53-54
    2:47-48, sometimes 49
    3:54
    4:54

this is the temperature when i am doing my daily routine with the laptop, like browsing the web, firefox, document, word, excel, etc. not gaming.
the machine was freshly boot after well rested.

Are these figures look normal to you guys? or I have not done a good enf job when redoing the thermal paste?

How long will it take MX-2 to work in its full capacity?

    Thanks

    temps look fine.

    danger temp is above 80-90C.

my Clevo D900K does not turn up the fans until my CPU's core reaches around 60C.

it usually stays around 40-50C since I have underclocked it with RMclock.

dont worry about your Clevo D900C.... its got the beefiest cooling system for any notebook around. ;)

GPU temps are fine as well.

danger temps for GPU is anything above 90C.

    One more question,

can i replace the thermal pads on the video card (those with red arrows) with thermal paste?

also, can i use Arcticlean to clean them if i wanna re-apply thermal paste next time?

this thread just ruined my day...

    Sensor Type HDD
    GPU Sensor Type Driver (NV-DRV)

    Temperatures
    CPU 85 °C (185 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #1 82 °C (180 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #2 82 °C (180 °F)
    GPU 87 °C (189 °F)
    Hitachi HTS722020K9SA00 49 °C (120 °F)

    Voltage Values
    CPU Core 1.38 V

this is while watching an .avi and surfing the web....what the (expletive deleted)? is it possibly my defective gpu? is it because i rarely turn off my notebook? what should i do besides get a cooler?

I dont think it's becoz you rarely turn off yr notebook,

I think the best way to do is to re-apply some thermal paste.

the fans/heatsinks might need to be secured.

and it might be a good idea to re-apply thermal compound.

wow, i undervolted my cpu and its running 20-30 degC cooler, that is ridiculous. as a result, gpu cooled off 5+ degrees. Now its just the hdd running kinda hot @49-51, but that i can live with, as i have back ups galore if it ever fails.
