I have a Sony SZ780E laptop. It came with a Penryn 2.4ghz T8300 CPU. What is interesting is that the CPU always works at 2.6ghz at full load, while the clock speed should be 2.4ghz. Its clock speed usually varies between 2.4ghz and 2.6ghz. Please see the above image. Is this OK? Also, Everest Ultimate says that my CPU is 8% overclocked, a job which I have never done. What is wrong? I have never upgraded nor changed the CPU since I bought at Sonystyle.

i think all intel mobiles do it. it is very brief throttle think it is done to get a task done quickly. so nothing is wrong dont worry about it

Intel Enhanced Dynamic Acceleration Technology
When you are using a single threaded app(one core being used), one core is overclocked while the other rests. -
That's Intel Dynamic Acceleration, or IDA. It temporarily disables one core and slightly overclocks the other, very briefly, when it's needed.
EDIT - naimaki is a god damned ninja. -
I'm not sure what is happening but you'll be fine... a 200MHz overclock (or 8%) is not a big deal and won't affect the life of the CPU. You would need a bigger gain in clock speed and higher voltage to actually decrease/kill you cpu. I'm thinking somehow the cpu multiplier via bios or some software tweaking was changed from 12x to 13x (hence the extra 200MHz). I know you say you didn't do it, so it could just be a CPU-Z bug, nothing really.
Edit: geez im slow -
Thanks guys!
What is wrong with my CPU?
