Uhh, you're most definitely not getting the right temps. Unless you live in an freezer, I doubt you can get your cpu to 10*.

My range is between 51-55. I guess it also depends on where the laptop is sitting (ie. on my lap or on the desk). Usually it's on my lap so that's why the higher temps.

Any reason why the memory (almost in the middle of the bottom) gets soo hot? I mean it sits on my lap and I try to let the vents have some breathing room, but still it gets pretty hot.

I use I8kfan util sometimes to force the fans into highspeed since Dell's bios keeps the fans running slow most of the time. Sometimes temps reach high 50's low 60's.. is that normal?

    Specs below.

mine is reading 22C right now, its a T7200 2ghz undervolted to .950V when running at 1ghz. mind you even when it wasnt undervolted it reported that temp. on my lap it will usually go up to 28-36C and this is reading from speedfan, rmclock reports an even lower temp which is very weird!

[EDIT]: heh just re-read this and realised one thing......the T7200's lowest voltage IS .950V so at 1ghz that voltage is normal! anyways i've undervolted the CPU to 1.025V @ 2ghz so will post temp with full load later on ;)

See my sig for my laptop's specs.

55-60 C if the Geforce Go 6600 is on. Peaks at around 65 C when under heavy load. (i.e. playing CnC3)

Around 50-55 C if the Intel GMA900 is on. Whether idle or not.

    Between 51C/124F 55C/131F for my AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-56
So I fall in the normal catagory. :)

BTW, is this forum mostly folks across the big pond? I notice that celsius is mostly used... I use Fahrenheit.

    p-m 1.86 35C on my perforated table

Guess we should be giving more info (ie ambient temp, size of notebook; even hard drive speed and graphics probably all have some degree of a synergistic heating effect).

I am sad to hear some of the c2d's are so much hotter. Hoping my incoming t7100 isn't too much hotter than current. I fear my "lap"topping days will be over.

Turion X2 Tl-50 Idle around 38-39C at max 60C. I use RMClock to undervolt all the multipliers :D

The reason why Celcius is always used is because most software that detects cpu temperatures will always list the temps in degrees centigrade (some may then list on the side the temps in Fahrenheit) but why this is done I don't know. Fahrenheit is only used in the U.S the rest of the world uses Celcius. Celcius is used in scientific context which computers fall under, and for this reason in the BIOS the shutdown temperatures and other throttle temperatures are coded in degrees Celcius.

Thanks for the detailed explaination! I wonder why USA has to be so different from everyone else? We're a country made up of immigrants from all over the world too. I guess this is one of the reasons so many other countries hate us.

I suspect Fahrenheit (as well as the other non-SI units) in US can be traced to the UK origins. :)

    It's "Celsius" btw w/ two "s".

oops you are right on that one "celsius" is the correct spelling. I should have known better than that! I use this everyday...

And you were correct Fahrenheit does have European origins, it is named after the German physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit who came up with the Fahrenheit scale way back in 1724 (took 2 meteorology courses while I was at university and they really taught me a thing or 2 :) ).

Yea, I think I just got a really good processor. I got it to undervolt at 0.750 V and ran Prime 95 or 7 hours, but because of the FID/VID change problem with AMD processors, it wasn't stable when I wanted to use any other speed. (And occasionally, the CPU would jump back to core 0.8 V, and then when RMClock kicks in again, the system would hang). I did get my highest speed to undervolt to 0.925 V, and the full load temperature peaks at 62 C (down significantly from the 78 that it was before I undervolted from 1.075 V).

By the way, I saw that you had a 65 nm. (Mine is a 90 nm) I thought the 65 nm's were supposed to run with even less heat.

The differing temperatures are more likely related to the different fan settings, heat vent design and heatsinks between the models. The 65nm's should produce the same amount of heat as the 90nm's considering the TDP's havent changed much. If any difference would only be noticable with the TL-60 since the TDP's decreased for that model.

If its not too much to ask, what voltages are the 65nm's running at? The 90nm's typically are ~1.075-1.1V at max multi while they run at 0.8V at 4x.

It should be fine, as they run with the same voltage characteristics. I was just wondering if a 65nm TL-60 might be a tad cooler (or not).

I notice the temps on these X2s can scale back rather rapidly when the fan kicks up. Mine can drop almost 10C in under 3 seconds.
