    Hey all,

I am just wondering, what is your notebook's battery life? Because on my notebook, I have 4 hrs top, with single battery pack (12 Cell). I know there some notebooks are better.

Toshiba M40-JM3, with standard 6-cell battery. I get around 1h30 watching a DVD, 2h00 watching TV Shows off my hard drive, and 2h30 utter maximum when only doing some light surfing with all battery saving options activated.

    Gateway 8510GZ
8 cell battery(can't recall the specs)
4.5 hours with wireless on, just web browsing and such.

Usually about 3 hours watching movies on the DVD drive.

I briefly tried underclocking my video card and was able to add about 25 minutes to the battery life...but I'm not 100% sure it was really stable.

Hmm interesting. Some of you has less battery life, while others have way more battery life especially playing DVD. I havent try to play DVD because I know it will suck the battery while using the dvd drive.

Z70Va - everything on battery saving mode with full screen brightness I get about 3 hours, usually less.

With screen dimmed down to 3 notches from the bottom I get close to 4 hours, but usually 3 hours 30minutes ish.

I used to get more juice outta my battery. I've only had my notebook since november.

I've seen many dells that get above average battery life. My 1022 gets about 2:50 with the six cell battery. I think it might get about 3hrs but usually it doesn't say that. Watching DVDs...haven't tried it, but probably closer to 2:15.

    It's not bad for a 6 cell.

The more you uses the battery, the more it will become weak and also to keep in mind about recharge cycles

Yeah, I understand about the battery. I have read that they have only about a year and a half of full useful life. Of course that depends on usage. I use mine quite often during every day, and NHC is reporting that I have 5% life off on one and 13% on the other. While I don't know how accurate that reporting is, it shows that I use it a lot

What I don't understand, and maybe someone can help me out on this... A couple times I have seen my percentage rise abruptly (3% at once). I'm not sure what I was doing to make such a spike, but it does concern me.

I'm sorry for hijacking. My old Dell D505, which I don't use as much gets about 4 hours regular surfing...but it's no good for other reasons :p

I have two 8 cell batteries in mine right now. I get at least four hours out of it but most of the time 5hrs or so. These are original batteries so they are about 4 years old..don't remember what I used to get. this is under normal usage. DVD and gaming is not so good. Dvd is probably the whole film 2hrs or so and with games I can get probably an hour or so per battery. Overall I don't find it all that bad especailly considering its a 8-10lb desktop replacement I rarely move.
