What kind of basic info should i know before flashing VBIOSes?

    Context my be helpful, http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...60558-g73jh-puts-out-image-external-only.html

Can i just flash any vbios to my card from the same model of card, like from different brands or are such things not guaranteed to work? Is vbios recovery not guaranteed? Or is it a fairly easy going process or does it vary by brand and or laptop?

the very first thing you should know before messing with vbioses is how to perform a blind flash.

Agreed because if you brick something and don't know this, its going to be a very painful experience or total loss :)

I recently made one my flash drives bootable (fat32 i think) for a dell laptop bios flash, for all intensive purposes it seems to be the same thing except with on image. I figured i could even go a step further and boot off it and do a "dry run" if i needed to get the syntax down.

I would say read up about your BIOS flashing for your system before even attempting to do it also make sure and double sure it is the right BIOS and also make sure power doesn't go out when flashing or your going to have a long year without a laptop.

First, make sure you have a backup of your VBIOS. Some knowledge of de-soldering and soldering small outline components (SPI chip) would be advantageous and use of an external flasher should blind flashing not work.

I can solder, i have done PLL and volt mods before. the only reason i want to flash is because my card does not work right, it may be hardware problem.

I believe he's replacing the 5870M in the G73JH with a 7970M... The vBIOS on the 7970M is probably not correct and causing issues.. There is 1 vBIOS which works but one wrong step might be very expensive ;)

HD6970m it wouldn't output to external, ended up being it need to be fastened down on both sides of the card AND the contacts were FILTHY.
