I assume the new mobile quad core clarksfield based on nehalem architecture will be available 4th quarter 2009. Are these processors going to be a huge leap in performance compared to the current core 2 quad qx9300. I'm not in desperate need of a new laptop and don't mind waiting if it's going to be worth it. The 32nm Arrandales coming out even later don't impress me as they are only dual core sure they got an integrated graphics on chip option to conserve battery life but performance is more important to me than battery life as my notebook will be docked 95% of the time so I expect the earlier released clarksfield to outperform the arrandales in raw power.
So worth it to wait for the clarksfield till Christmas time or is the performance increase minor and not worth the wait without a new goodie to play with?

clarksfield is the core i7 right. just check benchmark for the desktops.
for gaming core i7's won't do anything UNLESS your gaming at 1920*1200 or higher.

i know these are desktop but you can use it o evalute the performance of these cpu to see how they stack up against other platforms. i would love toexplain more but work in the morning. -
More than likely you won't be able to buy a mobile i7 laptop untill at least January 2010. The OEMs are stocked with montevina processors and Intel has agreed to postpone the new processors till they clear inventory. And by the looks of it, you'll need to spend $1k to get the decent version, which is the extreme @2ghz. Will a 2ghz i7 be any faster than an overclocked QX9300? Probably not.
What kind of performance increase do you expect from the new clarksfield vs current core 2 quad's, worth it to wait?
