This question is about my desktop but I figured it's roughly the same, and probably irrelevant for my question (plus having to sign up for another account on desktop review is a hassle).

Whenever I run a 3D modeling program (Alias/Rhino) and a video at the same time, whether its Hulu or through VLC, my computer freezes eventually, usually within 10 minutes. It's not a complete freeze, everything stutters. The audio will loop the last millisecond of the video and I think the display might as well, but theres nothing I can do but hard reset.

Both my CPU and GPU are fairly old (if it's relevant, HD 3870x2 and Core 2 Duo 6700 2.66ghz). I was wondering if it's my CPU that would be causing this or if it's my GPU. I have 8GBs of RAM and I don't think it's that as I usually don't hit that cap.

3d modelling taken alot of processing power
and best left to do it on its own.
