I only have 1 GB RAM in my notebook and running vista and Photoshop I would like to have some more. I found out that I don't have one 1 GB stick but two 512 MB sticks. So I'm considering what I should buy. I could buy two 1 GB sticks and run Dual-Channel or buy a 2 GB stick and use one of the existing sticks and go with 2.5 GB RAM.

What would be best ? 2 GB Dual Channel or 2.5 GB non Dual-Chanel

More RAM is always better than dual-channel, so I'd go with the 2.5 gb single channel.

Running RAM at dual channel makes almost no difference.

If the price is similar, get the 1x 2GB stick.

2.5 GB, dual Channel increases performance about 3-5% you'll get more out of 2.5 GB of RAM than 2 GB.
