    Guys,

I have an HP DV7 with dual Hitachi 5400rpm SATA hard drives. I got a great inside deal on Seagate 7200's. The problem with the DV5's & DV7's is that you cannot shut off the native mode of the SATA controller in the BIOS.

Can anyone recommend/confirm that any of the big-named imaging softwares handle imaging a drive stuck in that mode?

    Thanks!

I suggest you check out Casper, which I have found to be more flexible than Acronis TrueImage.

There are trial versions of both these products so you should be able to see if they work. However, I had a recent problem with both these not wanting to clone my E6400's HDD when the SATA interface is set in AHCI mode, but they worked OK when I changed the interface to IRRT, which is the setting used when the computer was supplied. Your problem may be something similar.
