CPU: 33-45C when on IGP, 38-50C when the 5650 is active.
    GPU: 45-57C :/

Both increase a lot after watching a video, though, and typically won't return to normal for a good while. I really need to do something about this...

It's also important that people list their ambient room temperatures as well. My room is 70 deg. F (21.1 deg. C).

    Core i5-560M dual-core; HP EliteBook 8740w
    Idle @ 24-30 deg. C.

Edit: in an 84*F (29 deg. C.) room, my idle is 35-41 deg. C.

That's very hot! Have you tried undervolting it and probably applying some quality new thermal paste?

Please post your ambient room temperatures because temperatures without it don't mean anything.

    T7500 @ 2.2 GHz undervolted

    Ambient room temperature: 23.5 C
    Idle: 29C

P8400 @3GHz. Real* idle CPU core temps +2°C above local ambient (internal temperature of notebook), local ambient idle temp usually +7°C above room temperature.

*without adjustment core temps read 10°C below real temperature at idle which if used would result in temperatures below ambient.
