I'm still running the laptop in my sig. Today I was given an HP DV6-1253CL with a broken screen. Now, the screen on my MSI is getting very dim and I'm getting annoyed by it. The HP has the following specs:

C2D P7550 (same speed as mine without the hardware virtualization)
2x2GB of RAM (same as mine)
ATI Mobility HD4650 1GB (I believe this is faster than my 9600M GT, type III mxm so not swappable)
1366x768 screen (CCFL type, basically the same size except in 16:9 ratio)
Blu-ray rom (not that I use it at all)

Now, the MSI does everything I need it to do but I really need a better screen. should I:

a)fix the screen on HP, swap P8400 into it, then sell MSI to pay for it
b)change screen on MSI, sell HP to pay for it
c)sell both and get a new laptop?

I've never done a screen swap so I dono how much trouble it is.

In your position I would sell off both systems and get a new/current Ivy Bridge platform system for around $600.

Even an entry level one would blow the doors of both of your current ones combined - and have warranty too.
