Hi,
I have a X83VB-X2 Asus laptop, and was wondering what type of information do I need to know when buying a new processor to replace the default one. Currently this laptop has a 2.0GHZ 800Mhz FBS T6400 processor with a PGA478 socket ( link to specs).
Can I buy a processor that has a socket compatible to the T6400 , such as the T8300 and put it in my laptop and have it run stable?
( Link to specs of T8300)
P.S. I opened up the bottom of my laptop and the processor is bolted down by 4 removable screws that connect the heat sink to it. After removing the screws and heat sink, the processor is also removable.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
You have a 45 series chipset and can use just about any 35W or less Socket P processor, including the T8300. There's no reason any of these processors shouldn't be stable, and the swap is as simple as pulling out the old processor and dropping in the new one.

Just make sure to use NEW thermal compound!

and make sure to OC it afterwards ! LOL !

Other than making sure the pins don;t bend it's an easy swap.

Remember to check your temperatures and do a stability test as well.
What to know before upgrading laptop processor?
