Just got a Studio XPS 1647 and didn't go for the WWAN service (like AT&T or Verizon), so I hear I can put other things in there. Any ideas, or could someone tell me in general what sort of hardware would fit in there?

I'm assuming it's a Mini PCI-E slot when i say this. You could fit a TV tuner in there like the A301 TV tuner i have, but just get one that supports the national standard of broadcasting signal in your country, or else you won't pick up much. They're pretty cheap, and can be found on eBay for as little as 50 bucks, even if you can't find any stations to pick up around you, if you're travelling to a big city/town, you're bound to find some, and it's entertainment for free.

You might consider the MR04 Mini PCI-e to SD HC adapter. Apparently, it takes up to 32GB SD cards. I was going to buy one for my LE 1700 tablet-PC. It uses a Ricoh chipset, so its compatibility might be mixed at best.

Reason I say that is because I read of 1 report where the user reported an issue with their built-in Ricoh based card reader not accepting a 32 GB A-DATA SDHC card.

Can do a visual inspection of the tracks running from your mPCIe socket. WWAN tend to be USB only, in which case you can't put in mPCIe tv-tuners or wifi cards with require PCI-E lines.
