Recently I've been thinking about which component of my laptop I should/can upgrade next. I'm not quite sure where the bottleneck is. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 9300:
Pentium M 2.13 GHz
2 GB RAM (not sure what type)
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 256 MB
I want to be able to play some of the upcoming MMORPGs like Age of Conan and Warhammer. I don't want to buy a whole new computer, but I don't know if I can make this one much better.
I'm afraid that the CPU and the video card might be soldered on. I haven't taken a look inside, but I hear that's how they do it usually. If it's not possible to purchase any upgrades, perhaps someone has info on overclocking? Although, it seems to get hot as it is.. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.![]()

You should probably test the games first to see how they run on your system and then determine what you need; if its only a bit slower than you want it, then you can OC and have it where you want it to be. If its too much for your system, your more than likely gonna have to get a new laptop. Im not very familiar with the 6x series, but i would image its pretty old.

erk070, todays your lucky day man.

Follow the procedure, and you will be able to pin mod your pentium M processor. The pentium M 770, which you have can be pin modded to 2.8ghz, so that will yield a substantial amount of power for a single core.
You cannot upgrade that 6800 to anything else, so your stuck with it. However its a pretty damn good graphcs card, so it should be able to play most games.
Your chipset is maxxed out on memory, so do not bother upgrading to 4gb because you cannot.
Good luck with the pin mod

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll try overclocking.
About the pinmod - it doesn't seem that you can do that with the M 770 since it already runs at a 133 MHz bus speed. I've been looking for other ways of overclocking it but I haven't found anything yet. I did find a guide for overclocking the 6800 though: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread98952.html
What to upgrade next?
