    What to use my 24gb SSD for? Lot of answers say to leave it alone.

    Have a Lenovo Y510p with 1tb hard drive @5400 rpm and 24gb ssd. I hear the ssd is used as a cache and not to do anything, but restarting/turning on computer is indeed kind of slow at 5400 rpm.

    Some have suggested to install a program to copy my OS (or whole hard drive since it's new and only has 5gb right now) onto the ssd. Then delete the OS on the hard drive. Is this advisable?

    Installing an OS on a 24GB SSD is only asking for trouble. I wouldn't bother. But it should cache your most frequently accessed OS files on there so boot times should be improved considerably. If you want faster boot, then I'd just go get a 128GB SSD and install your OS and common apps on that and use the hard drive for additional storage/installs.

    I agree with wingnut and say keep it as a cache drive installing windows on 24gb would be almost impossible.

    Remember the Lenovo y510p uses an NGFF connector not Msata, so upgrades are sparse for it. You may be better getting a larger ssd if you really want the best performance.

    Definitely keep it as a cache. 24 GB is asking for trouble as previously said.

    Alright guys I'll leave as is. Restarting is actually pretty fast compared to my old Y500 without an SSD cache.

    I uninstalled mcafee and dled the mcafee removal tool. Why do I still have McAfee taking up 400mb in my 24gb ssd? Can I delete it? It's under applications.

    Did you run CCleaner? After the removal, it should find leftover crap from the uninstall.
    Revo Uninstaller would have been my first choice for the removal. It allows you to do more than the basic program uninstall.

    We will have 24GB-128GB M.2 upgrades for you soon. Hold off on putting any more time into it and pick up a 64GB and you should be able to load all of your OS and Programs and use it as a boot drive or use it as you are using the 24GB and you will not really have to to a darn thing excepting the switcharoo.

    FYI if the caching software is any good on that it should kick that file out of there soon. Reason it is there is because every-time you booted that program loaded making it a popular item on your computer so the software moved it to the 24GB drive.

    M.2 is a new SSD form factor. Very few computers use it right now but I think within 2 weeks hundreds will be announced at IDF.

    Yes it should remove itself once something more popular comes up.

    how u know if your ssd is used as a cache drive or not ?? or how to make it cache drive ??.......i have 24 SSD on my samsung laptop and i don't know it's a cache by default or not !!.....actually i can't see or feel it.....when i open my computer i see my 1 tera HD only but the SSD appears in the drive management with status (healthy)......please help

    fatehy, the SSD on your system is not like the one on his. He has an M.2 SSD on his system. For him there are upgrade possibilities for example our MyDigitalSSD Super Cache 2 M.2 will be available very soon.
