I was just wondering what type of printer that you use at home. I have an Epson CX6600 that died - about 18 months after use. I was considering a new printer and am debating amongst the all in one, color laser, BW laser, photo printer, or stand alone ink jet.

Got a BW laser printer from Samsung. Cheapest one I could find. I hardly use my printer but when I use it I print 10 plus pages at once. I found that ink gets dry up when not in use for a few weeks so laser is cheaper for me.

Black and white laser.. probably the same one as wave, actually. I never find myself needing to print color, so a cheap laser is the way to go for me.

the last time i needed to print in color was for middle school projects, lol

its all printing essays and research papers now, so BW laser was my choice! im using an HP Laserjet 3200 All-in-one. Also does standalone copying.

*edit* i also print to pdf files for online purchases and archive em...lol

I have an ancient HP Lazerjet 6p at home. it is B & W and works great, and the toners seem to last for years without end.

@Lil Mayz--I used to have one of those a few years ago in my shop. Awesome little printer until it finally gave up.

I have the multifunction HP LaserJet 3300mfp (print/scan/copy/fax). It's been great for personal at-home usage for 3+ years now. MFPs are only getting cheaper too.

Epson photo printer. Sucks up ink like mad when printing documents. It may be worth it for me to buy a laser printer to save on ink (a full load of six cartridges costs $100+!)

I have an HP Deskjet 6122. Its decent - I don't use it for serious photo printing though. What I like about it is its dependability and long-lasting cartridges.

the all in one printers are very useful, because it is useful to fax straight from the computer other than having to print it then fax it. More useful if printer is on the networked so the printer is served as a wireless printer for many computers.

I have an Epson CX4800. It's a crapper, but the ink is dirt cheap. I keep having to clean and align the cartridges since it's an Epson. Plus it scans and copies, so I am content with the annoyances...and it was cheap.

Hey, so do I. The ink is dirt cheap, but it also goes through ink quite fast.

It's also really slow printing, but ... I can't really complain. I do a lot of highlighting of printed material, and the Epson ink doesn't smudge like my old HP printer used to when you put a marker to it.

I can't answer the poll because I have too many printers!

    1. Epson Stylus 1160. This used to be the main printer but is now kept because of its A3 capability.

    2. Samsung ML-2250N laser printer. This now does most of the normal printing and came with a built-in network port.

    3. Canon IP-5200R. This is now the main colour printer and has network and wireless.

    4. Canon BJC-55. For use when travelling.

I am never buying another Epson again (short lived CX6600).
    ----------------------------------------------------------
I ended up buying a HP Photosmart C6180 that is a multifunction printer, fax, scanner/sheet feeder, and copier. It is also wireless capable.

Set up is a breeze and quality of the prints are excellent. Time will only tell how long it lasts.

I did notice this about my HP printer. The pages never seem to take well to highlighting markers. I thought it was just due to the cheap grade paper I always used..............

I've heard about my printer series (the Epson CX4800) having real problems with paper jams and subsequent ink waste/printer destruction. Luckily, this hasn't happened to me yet. I picked it up for around $70, which is not that bad for an decent all-in-one. I've had it for eight or nine months now, so hopefully it'll stay functional for a long time :)

My dad has a Canon MP830 at work. It's a great all-in-one printer, I've fiddled around with it several times and the image quality and features are superb. Check it out if you have a large printer budget -
