    A T8300 2.4GHz,3MB Cache,800MHz with 3gb of ddr2 800mhz with a 160gb 7200 hdd
    or
    T9300 2.5GHz 6MB L2 Cache 800MHz FSB with 4GB (4096MB) 667MHz DDR2 2 x SODIMM and a 200gb 5400hdd.

    Hope someone can help as I'm a bit confused by the whole thing

    i'd go for the second option. The dif.ference in hd speed shouldn't be that much considering the 5400rpm has a higher platter density. What are the difference in prices?

    The second one is much faster. Much better CPU, more RAM (the motherboard on the first one cannot make full use of the 800Mhz FSB anyway), and larger HD (the difference in size compensates for the low spindle speed, so in terms of performance, the two HDs will be similar).

    If same price 2nd. 32bit or 64bit OS? In most tasks the T9300 will only be 5% to 6% faster than the T8300.
