Not sure where to ask this. I bought a two year extended warranty from newegg for my first laptop. Well to put it bluntly I kind of screwed up with it. I shook it and now everytime it turns on it has this weird black screen come up, but the Os loads, the laptops performance isn't any worse. I also had some crap fall under the keyboard(which is why I shook it).

If it stops working one day, will newegg fix it or am I screwed?

The hardware seems to be damaged.
Yes I realize what I did was really dumb. Not sure what I was thinking.

You're asking a mostly hypothetical question.

Read the fine print on the warranty you purchased and take the system in now and tell us if they honoured it or not.

I'm not being funny; this is something you need to get looked at right away imo.

ADH pertains to You if listed on the reverse side of this Contract. Your Product is protected against accidental damage from handling. ADH will end prior to the expiration date when We have, as a result of service provided to You, replaced Your Product or incurred costs under this plan and all other coverage equal to the original purchase price of Your Product (as indicated on your invoice). ADH only covers operational or mechanical failure caused by an accident from handling and does not include protection against normal wear and tear, theft, misplacement, negligence, viruses, reckless, abusive, willful or intentional conduct associated with handling and use of the Product, cosmetic damage and/or other damage that does not affect the unit functionality, damage caused during shipment between You and Our service providers and any other limitations listed in the Limitations of Coverage section. Any resultant damage from this type of treatment is NOT covered by this ADH program. The use of this coverage requires an explanation of where and when the accident occurred as well as a detailed description of the actual event. Failure to provide this information will result in claim denial.

This was the fine print. Does shaking it = negligence or recklessness? Or would I be covered?

You purchased a product without reading what it contained..
That's like purchasing a jar for it's contents but without knowing it's contents.

Well this type of situation was really unexpected. It doesn't say anything specifically and its a really broad explanation.

And it did happen more than 2 weeks ago and I haven't gotten it checked out. TOo cowardly right now to send it in and possibly get rejected tbh.

shaking generally falls under the scope of negligent, reckless, abusive, willful and/or intentional conduct. Accidental damage typically means water damage, debris that gets into a vent, or an accidental drop/impact. Shaking could be somewhat similar to going over a bunch of huge speed bumps while the laptop is in the trunk of your car, although it really depends on the force and frequency, if that makes sense.

Generally speaking, you want to dismantle a laptop to clean it out if something falls in - this can include prying off every key to get at dirt and grime. Shaking is far and away the worst possible way to try to dislodge debris. There's a fair chance the debris will not come out, but instead go somewhere worse, potentially blocking fans or creating a short.

Here's a simple but huge question - was the laptop on when you did this?

Of course. Which is why it was so stupid

    A few questions though.

    1. If it does break, where could I actually repair it?
    2. Its been working for over 2 weeks just fine, just a black screen comes on everytime I turn it on, are the chances if it just breaking low?
    3. If it does break, what do?

    A few questions for you

    1) You know you can edit your first post instead of making an additional one?
    2) Why would you ever shake a laptop while its on?

    And to answer your questions:

    1) Repair costs cost a ton, probably the same cost as a one year warranty if not more. And there is no guarantee that a third party could fix it legitimately. But to be honest, I don't think the internal damage is as bad as you think it is.

    2) I think you're stressing over this a bit too much. If the laptop is working fine and you just have to wait the 5s for the black screen to go away, I would personally just keep it and live with it.

    1. I'm aware.
    2. Wasn't really thinking at the time. I'm not that bright of a person tbh. <_<

It's not a 5s black screen. Lasts more than a minute. I'm just asking if the damage will mess up my laptop and give it an early death.

But you're probably right. Since the laptop works just fine the damage isn't too bad.

I don't think you damaged anything by shaking your laptop (I presume it was off?). The most fragile component to violent movement is the hard drive, which, seeing as the laptop works just fine, seems to be okay. I wouldn't worry about it.

Nope, it was on. It probably had more to do with the power IMO>
