Hi, can anyone tell me what a barebone? is it a lapto chassis only or what? If this is the case, what else than the chassis comes with a barebone? what components do I need in addition to make it complete laptop?

A barebone is typically the case, LCD, motherboard, processor and video card. You'd need to add RAM and a hard drive usually, as well as any other cards like Wireless or Bluetooth. It depends on whether they advertise it with the processor or not.
Good call below, vespoli: about half the time they come with optical drives, the rest of the time you have to buy your own. Look at the specs of what it supplies to know for sure. -
Usually a barebones lappy is a chassis, mobo, lcd and gpu. Usually you have to add memory, a HD, processor--sometimes comes with a proc. Usually you will have to add radios. Not sure about what the optical drive situation is. Usually it's a little cheaper to build a barebones, but you don't have a single company to fall back on when warranty issues arise and it does require a little technical know-how; not much, but some.

yeah barebones are not recommended for the technologically faint of heart, but if youve got a tech-savvy friend thats more than good enough, you'll probably save a few bucks. watch the warranty situation however...

using notebook barebone = putting together a desktop system yourself. If you're up for the challenge of assembling your own desktop system then you should do OK with assembling a barebone. Usually a barebone includes a chassis, lcd, motherboard (incl video/gpu, sound, ethernet/modem ports, etc).
Warranty as others mentioned is an important issue to take a look at.
What's a barebone??
