Dell Precision M4300 from a relative.
it was working normally until a few weeks ago, I keep getting this screen or something similar.
blank with a few strange lines.

Connecting it to an external monitor, windows runs almost normally.
except that the colors are in 4-bit and super low resolution. It can't be changed in control panel. Its a "worse than safe-mode" effect.

I tried to open the bezel and lid, every thing seems to be connected properly

think the vid card is dying? mobo?
    time to junk this computer?

Since it doesn't look like there's obvious physical damage to the display, it could be a dying video card.

I've dealt with one or two laptops from family friends that looked similar and they ended up being faulty GPUs.

that sure looks like a dying gpu. connecting to the external monitor is most prob using the internal graphics.
