Comparing the i5 450m and i5 520m (and eventually 430m and 540m) I noticed that the 450m has a higher dmi bus than the rest.

    What does that mean?

450m and 520m for reference: Compare IntelĀ® Products,

when you compare the two side by side, it calls dmi bus sytem bus.

DMI is Direct Memory Interface. It's not that there's a DMI bus, but that it's a DMI compatible memory bus. And it's faster because it just is, it's the effect of the memory controller. One of the differentiating factors of the different CPUs.
