I need help determining what happened today with my NB.

I turned it on, talked on Skype for a few minutes and put it to hibernation. Everything went normal, didn't notice anything strange. After two hours, I push the power button - and nothing, just the blue light on the power button is on. Screen is completely blank, no BIOS, HDD doesn't spin, just the fan kicks in as soon as I hit the power button and that's it...

So I left it like that as I had other things to attend to and again after a few hours - puf, starts normally. HDD health saysit is on 83% and Hard Drive Inspector says 92-100%. So what could it be, motherboard.
    Thanks

Until you can re-create the problem, or establish for sure that something is wong, I would just chalk that up to hardware, Windows and hibernation. Sometimes they just don't work well together.

If it happens again and you aren't going to lose any data, just take the battery out and put it back in. It'll obviously be a reboot, but you won't need to wait 2 hours.

This happened to my laptop just this weekend. The first time it went on, processor light on, power light on, battery light on, bluetooth light on. But just black screen. Also came from hibernation.

I held the power button to turn it off, then on again. The screen's still black, but the startup sound played, so I thought it was my LCD cable unplugged. Checked, but it isn't unplugged. I took out the battery, held the power button for a minute, put the battery back in, held the button for another minute, then turned it on. This time it worked.

So probably just some minor (or annoying) hardware glitch with Windows and Hibernation. Oh, and this isn't the first time it happened to me, too.

Ah yes I forgot to mention that I'm using Windows 7. Didn't lose any data after that. And I'm not using the battery at all. Hopefully there won't be any blackouts anymore. It isn't pleasant. Thanks for your replies.

Until you duplicate the problem.. or it becomes truely pronounced..

Its not a problem until it is re-occuring issue.. That is GREAT! NEWS!

So be happy.. But I like the pull the battery and power let it sit.. then power back up...

Sorry for the simple answer but it is true and correct.. and BrandonSi is very bright so.. I feel good about my thoughts.

    Be well, JW

This isn't all that uncommon. No reason to worry.

Well it's just that it's the first time that it happened to me. And I'm not that new in all this. Thanks everyone.
