I think Hitachi and WD are the most reliable brand at the moment. The 7K320 and WD3200BEKT respectively.

Are you talking about a 2.5" notebook HDD, with 1TB capacity?

Last I knewthe largest was 500GB, but I have not paid much attention for a couple months.

The 1TB HDDs for laptops do exist, but they are not commercially available yet, and they wont fit 99% of laptops since they have a height 3mm above standard.

Or Fujitsu MHZ2320BJ which is the fastest 7200 rpm hard drive according to Laptopmag.

Western Digital has never failed me. The Scorpio Black series is their 2.5" 7,200 RPM lineup.

I'm with all the others on the WD drive. I had an older Seagate 7200 RPM drive in my old HP DV8000t which crapped out after less than a year. I got my XPS M1330 and threw the 320GB WD Scorpio Black in it and it's been perfect. I've had very few problems with Western Digital drives over the years and stacks of problems with just about any other manufacturer I've tried.
