Hey everyone I'm new to the forums, looks like a great site. Anyway
What's the difference in speed just speed not how much battery it uses or how quite it is, but speed between........
The Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83 ghz and the Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.83.
My sister has the Pentium one and want to know if i should put out extra money. Now i just want to about the speed of the CPU that's all.
Thanks

See if you can find those two CPUs here.
The PDCs are the cut-down, stripped C2Ds - with minimal intel features, 533MHz FSB and 1MB L2 Cache. In terms of speed, you won't notice much of a difference, but the reduced cache will push the PDC behind the C2D, by a small margin. -
Well...The Core 2 Duo is the second "line" of dual core processors whereas the Dual Cores were the first. The Core 2 Duo's are a bit more "efficient". No difference in theoretical clock speed obviously but depending on WHAT she does on her computer it may be a negligible difference in speed

According to that link that you posted it seems that they will perform pretty much the same, which is what I was going to guess as well. >.< lol -
Thanks for the quick replies. So should i save money and get the PDC? I mean she uses it just for browsing and stupied stuff. I actually run a lot programs at once. I was also thinking of running OSx86 on it. So should i just get the C2D or PDC?

Intel Core "2 Duo" outperforms Intel "Duo Core"
The difference is basically the architecture of the processor (don't mind about this info) with the Intel Core "2 Duo" being the newer one and the faster one.
Conclusion: Get Core "2 Duo" because it is faster and newer -

What's the price difference between them? And what would the other hardware specs be? Depending on the other specs your CPU may not even be close to the bottleneck so that may sway your decision as well...
-
Depends upon the cost difference and your budget. You could upgrade the ram to 3-4GB and get a good, fast HDD....but the PDC CPU will be the bottleneck when it comes to overall performance.
-
About 100 bucks not a big deal. I can get a laptop with PDC for 500 and a laptop with C2D for 600.

Do you mean TurionX2? Because if not the PDC and C2D definitely beat it... -
I believe the OP mentioned Pentium 'Dual Core', and not Intel 'Duo Core' or 'Core Duo'.
The Socket P PDCs will perform similar to the Merom-2M C2D, and the Socket M PDCs will perform similar to the Yonah Core Duos. -
Go for the C2D....Which CPU - T5550 or T5600..??
-
Turion 64 X2 TL-60(2.00GHz)
-
T5550 (10 Char)
-
The TL-60 will almost perform similar to the PDC, though AMD have their own benefits (which I dunno), but a similar C2D will be quicker than the AMD.

Ok so which one is a better buy?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ogle-_-Notebooks-_-Hewlett-Packard-_-34147769
Or
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8891443&type=product&id=1211587312571.
If you can find anything better in that price please let me know. -
personally, i would go with the one from best buy because of the larger HD and the intel.
-
Thanks I was leaning towards that one just because its new and the other is refurb. I have a External HDD so i don't care about that. BTW is there anyway i can overclock the C2D cpu?
-

Yes. C2Ds are known to be easily and heartily OCed, but I highly suggest people not to overclock because it shortens hardware lifespans and IMHO isn't worth it... -
They are the same chip so I take issue with your architecture comment.
What's the difference between these 2 CPUs?
