With SSD's relatively common these days, what is the next big in laptop hardware?
USB 3.0?
New batteries?

Cool, didn't realize that the battery tech was so apparently close to being commercially available.

hot news. ty for the info.
those might be available before SSD becomes practical (lol) -

In batteries, apparantly someone is making batteries "Hot-Swappable". So you dont have to power down the laptop before switching the battery. Seems simple to me... Just put a small celled battery in the PC that will hold the charge a a few minutes while the owner changes the main battery.
BTW, what are going to be advantages of USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0? -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Quote from PC Mag: "The third-generation Universal Serial Bus interconnect will transfer data at speeds up to 4.8Gbit/s, ten times faster than USB 2.0's 480MBit/s. It will be backwards-compatible with USB 2.0, which is backwards-compatible with the first USB 1.1 definition."
Bluetooth 3.0
Quote from Wikipedia: "The next version of Bluetooth after v2.1, code-named Seattle (the version number of which is TBD) has many of the same features, but is most notable for plans to adopt ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technology. This will allow Bluetooth use over UWB radio, enabling very fast data transfers of up to 480 Mbit/s, while building on the very low-power idle modes of Bluetooth."
Quote from crutchfield: "The new standard is reportedly up to 160 times as fast as Bluetooth 2.1" -

But there's the problem of eventually you ruining your hard disk by flipping the laptop over and over when its still on. So they'll have to wait for cheap SSD first. -

What's the next big thing?
