I was just curious to know what 'finish' most people liked best on their laptops. If I'm missing some options for the poll, or if I need to put a more specific option in there, let me know!
Personally, I'm not a fan of the rubberized finish. On my Alienware m14x, if I use it for a long period of time it tends to leave a shiny spot where my palm was, although to be fair, it doesn't last long. I've had hard plastic before too, and while I have no problem with the functionality with it, it does feel a tad cheap. The laptop I use at the office is one the HP elitebooks, and it's silver brushed aluminum, which I actually really like. I've heard people mention that brushed aluminum is a fingerprint magnet and hard to clean, but I haven't noticed anything on mine. Maybe it's an issue of the color, with one showing it more easily? (Black vs. Silver).

Metal is good, but aluminum is soft, and just barely a metal. Magnesium is a little better, IMO. Obviously steels are great, but heavy.
I don't mind some plastic, but the more metal the better. -
I've only ever used laptops which are plastic on the exterior, and non-glossy at that. I suspect I wouldn't be a fan of rubberized, due to potential stickiness. Metal might be okay, as long as the laptop doesn't run hot. If it did, I can see that being a disadvantage.
I do like that my laptop has a magnesium chassis, but I don't mind that the exterior is plastic. It's been plenty durable enough so far.
I didn't vote since I don't really have anything to compare on. -
Carbon Fibre or the Clevo rubberized stuff

How about making it a multiple choice poll?
I like a lightweight metal like a magnesium alloy for my lid and keyboard surround (wrist rest, trackpad, etc), LCD bezel I don't really care, and underside plastic, to avoid a super hot touch surface. -

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Not surprised that metal is winning... I like the the most too mainly because it wears the least.
For the same reason, I'd actually say I like rubberized the least because (at least in my experience) it wears out the fastest. -
In terms of durability: metal
In terms of tactile feel: rubberized
Rubberized does tend to wear out faster in terms of scratches, but in my opinion, it is still what feels better to the touch. I'd pick metal because I'm OCD and can't stand scratches personally, but if rubberized wasn't wearing out that fast, it's what I'd likely pick. -
The chassis of my M17x R2 is about as perfect as I expect it. Metal on the outside. Matte finish plastic on the palmrest and trackpad so it doesn't become a dirt/oil/dust magnet.
What's your preferred texture for your Laptop? (Plastic, Rubberized, Metal, etc.)
