Im thinking 640x480...am i right?

The 0.3 MP webcams are 640x480 (300k pixels), and the 1.3 MP webcams are 1280x1024 (1.3m pixels). These are the two most common types of webcams found. However, video chat is usually limited to 640x480 or so.

0.3mp to 1.3mp as said.
You don't need more than that either, as when you're streaming webcam, you don't need to have a 10mbit internet connection in order to stream it well. -
Ive got a 2.0MP, and it can be adjusted through the software from 640x480 to 1280x1024
It is a bit slower at the higher resolution though.

My webcam is made by ORION. In the software it lets you select the resolution size
Their are like 3 options
640x480
1024x768
1280x1024
Not all webcams are the same, so yours maybe a fixed resolution one
