I have not heard anything about the WD5000BEKT. Both Segate and Hitachi have their 7200 500GB 2.5 Drives available. Has anyone heard anything???

    I think he's looking for a 500GB 7200rpm WD drive. The WD5000BEVT is a 5400 RPM

It is also interesting that Seagate released this drive at the beginning of Feb '09. It looks like they are 9 months ahead of all the other companies.

Maybe WD is working on a 1TB 10,000 RPM 2.5 drive. That would be make my day.

I'd be appeased if they could release the 1TB 12.5mm drive they announced way back in July.

I have not heard anything, WD is definitely lagging behind. I gave up waiting at the end of this summer and picked up a WD5000BEVT, I've been extremely satisfied with it.

    I would like to see a 7200RPM version of WD's WD6400BEVT (640GB 5400RPM) at this point.

It's been "released" for months, various vendors even have them "available". Yet, I've heard of no one actually receiving one, they aren't sold on Ebay, and Amazon lists them as "Usually ships within 1 to 2 months." or "This item has not yet been released.".

For whatever reason, it seems they haven't shipped to vendors/retailers yet.
